Covid-19: Two More Areas in Lahad Datu Under Improved OLS Oct 13-26, Says Ismail Sabri

PETALING JAYA: Two new locations in Lahad Datu, Sabah will be placed under an Enhanced Movement Control (MCO) order starting Tuesday (Oct 13) following a spike in Covid-19 cases there, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The defense minister said the localities involved were Taman Khazanah Indah and PPR Mutiara Kasih, adding that 5,452 people will be affected.

The two-week enhanced MCO for localities will end on October 26.

“All residents must follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Between them, they will not be allowed to leave their homes, ”Ismail said during a press conference to give updates on Covid-19 on Sunday (October 11).

Ismail said that the food supplies will be distributed by the Sabah state government and coordinated by the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma).

He said all roads into and out of the towns will be closed, although residents can get permission from the police to travel for medical emergencies and deaths.

Ismail also said that the conditional MCO will be placed in the Kota Belud district from October 13 to 26 after an increase in cases there.

He said steps were taken to stop the spread of the disease and for authorities to screen for the disease during the period.

He added that only two people from each household would be allowed to go out to search for food and basic items.

Ismail said essential services, including factories involved in their production, could operate.

Essential services include the fishing, agriculture and plantation sectors.

Wholesale markets, pass tani, grocery stores, clinics and pharmacies will also be able to operate, while restaurants and stalls will only be able to open to go.

Schools, kindergartens, institutions of higher education and places of worship will be closed during this period and no sports, recreational, social and cultural activities will be allowed.
