The Covid-19 vaccine among the topics of discussion at the Malaysia-China bilateral meeting

PETALING JAYA: Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein (Photo) will host his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, who will be in Malaysia for a two-day official visit on Monday (October 12).

Wisma Putra said that topics of discussion at the bilateral meeting between the two would include the progress of the Covid-19 vaccine being developed in China, enhancing economic cooperation, post-pandemic collaboration, and strengthening existing ties and cooperative efforts between the two countries.

“They are also expected to discuss regional and global issues of common interest,” Wisma Putra said in a statement on Sunday (October 11).

Wisma Putra said that the visit will be carried out in full compliance with the health and safety measures outlined by the Ministry of Health in accordance with the standard operating procedure approved by the Special Ministerial Meeting on the movement control order on 1 and 3 October as announced by the Chief Minister. (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

This includes performing a swab test three days before arriving at the country’s international airport and a second swab test sample taken upon arrival at the airport.

“Delegates would be escorted from the airport to the hotel, then to the event venue and back to the airport to depart for the countries of origin, following a controlled itinerary. Delegates can only fly in private planes,” said Wisma Putra.

Wang Yi last visited Malaysia in 2018.
