PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): Employers can still apply for the Employment Retention Program (ERP) under the Social Security Organization (Socso), says Minister of Human Resources Datuk Seri M. Saravanan (Photo)

“Under the program that is still ongoing, people whose applications have been approved will receive financial assistance of RM600 per month,” it said in a statement on Saturday (May 2).

On March 16, the government announced the ERP under the Economic Stimulus Package to reduce the burden on economically affected employers during the Covid-19 pandemic and the motion control order imposed to contain the spread of the disease.

Through the program, financial assistance will be provided to workers to whom the employer has issued an unpaid leave notice.

Saravanan said that as of Friday, Socso had received 27,222 applications from employers, involving 230,652 workers.

“Socso is currently processing applications and will disburse the provisions to applicants based on established qualification conditions,” he said.

Saravanan said the government had allocated RM120mil for the program, which was also open to workers who contributed to the Employment Insurance System (EIS) with wages of less than RM4,000 per month. – Bernama
