PETALING JAYA: All the staff and tenants of the 1Utama Shopping Center have undergone Covid-19 tests as a precautionary measure to mitigate potential risks.

Management of the shopping complex confirmed that Mac City Service Center employees had tested negative for Covid-19.

“Close contacts of Parkson Elite employees were also negative,” it said in a statement posted on its Facebook page on Saturday (October 10).

He said the Health Ministry had confirmed that the small number of cases in 1Utama were unlinked and not transmitted from a single source “with infected people showing no symptoms during their working days at our tenant outlets.”

Following the advice of the Health Ministry, management announced that the complex would be closed on Sunday (October 11) for a cleanup exercise and to help facilitate contact tracing.

“We remain steadfast in our security efforts, and the mall will reopen once the test results are received,” he said.

Management noted that despite strict standard operating procedures and extensive sanitation efforts, they were unable to contain the spread of the virus.

“It’s out of our control,” he said.

Management expressed gratitude to the leaders, tenants, the Ministry of Health and all parties who had provided continued assistance and support during the difficult period.

He called on members of the public who had visited Mac City and Parkson Elite between September 25 and October 7 to contact the Petaling District Health Office.
