PETALING JAYA: All the massive Covid-19 test results of 116 households in the Damansara Bistari apartment here came back negative, says Bukit Gasing Assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran.

The PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test was performed on October 7 by a private laboratory after a person in Block A of the apartment in Section 19, Petaling Jaya, tested positive for Covid-19.

“The apartment residents became tense when they saw an ambulance transporting the patient away on October 3, and the surrounding residents asked if there was a case in that apartment,” Rajiv said.

He added that the massive tests were carried out immediately, as there was an increased risk of transmission in low-cost housing.

“A sample was taken from each house in the affected block for testing, and fortunately the results came back negative. We hope this has alleviated the fear of surrounding residents of a possible new group in the neighborhood,” he said.

Rajiv added that the Ministry of Health did not carry out tests on the residents since the patient had no close contacts.

The patient is currently in Sungai Buloh Hospital and is responding well to treatment.

Rajiv said that the Ministry of Health should test people in high-risk areas, especially when a positive case was reported.

“This is so that we can reduce the rate of infection by identifying infected individuals so they don’t spread to other locations,” he said.

The president of Block A Apartment Management Corporation, Abdul Samat Abdul Rashid, who was also at the press conference, thanked Rajiv and the residents for their cooperation during the massive tests.

“The results have been emailed to each household to ease their nerves and they can also show the letter to their respective employers,” he said.
