SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) has ordered Friday prayers, the five mandatory prayers, and activities at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Airport Mosque in Subang near here to be suspended from yesterday (October 8) until further notice.

JAIS director Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said the order was made after a member of the congregation who attended the mosque for Friday prayers on October 2, tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the records, the number of congregations that attended Friday prayers that day was 1,310 people.

“Therefore, JAIS asks all members of the congregation to immediately undergo an examination at the nearest health clinic if they have symptoms or are quarantined at home,” he said today in a statement here.

Mohd Shahzihan said the situation will also be discussed in detail at the Mosque and Surau SOP Special Oversight and Evaluation Committee meeting, which will be chaired by him for future actions on the status of the mosque soon.

“Currently, JAIS only allows three people from among the committee members to make the call to prayer and the mandatory prayers.

“The cleaning and sanitation work was carried out by the mosque administration today,” he said. -Called
