COVID-19 | The Selangor government ordered the closure of the 1 Utama shopping center as of tomorrow (October 11) after the discovery of four cases of Covid-19 at its facilities.

The first case of Covid-19 at the mall was reported on October 5 that involved a Mac City Service Center staff and another on October 8 that involved a Parkson Elite employee.

However, Petaling district official Johary Anuar, who also chairs the district’s disaster management committee, revealed that there have been two more cases involving an employee and a buyer.

Johary appealed to shoppers and staff who have been in the Parkson Elite cosmetics section on the ground floor of the 1 Utama Mall from September 30 to October 7 to come forward.

He said those who visited the Mac City Service Center on the second floor of the mall from September 25-30 should also come forward.

“The Petaling Health Department will conduct a Covid-19 health screening at 1 Utama on October 14 and 15 from 9 am to 2 pm.

“The priority for detection will be for close contacts who visited the facilities on the previous dates,” he said today in a statement.

He added that people who have visited the indicated facilities but not within the stipulated dates should be tested at their closest health center as soon as possible.

Johary also announced the closure of Tropicana Golf Club and Country Resort after five employees also tested positive for Covid-19.

“The closures will go into effect on October 11 for contact tracing and disinfection purposes,” he added.
