KUCHING: The president of the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, has clarified that a positive patient for Covid-19 (Case 722) reported on Wednesday was not instructed to undergo home quarantine as previously announced.
Instead, he said, the case was recommended to self-quarantine until the Covid-19 test result was negative.
“The case was also recommended to always practice personal hygiene, perform physical distancing, wear a mask and always comply with standard operating procedures (SOP) related to Covid-19 infection,” he said at a press conference in the former Legislative Assembly of the State. Building yesterday.
He said the case was randomly examined upon arrival at Kuching International Airport on October 3.
“Upon arrival in Sarawak, SDMC has not implemented mandatory quarantine and control instructions for visitors entering or returning from Peninsular Malaysia.
“This directive was only enforced on October 4,” he explained.
On Wednesday, Case 722, a prominent civil servant living in Sri Aman, was reported to have gone to Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya on vacation on September 25.
The case was tested for Covid-19 by RT-PCR on October 3, which was positive on October 6.
Meanwhile, Uggah said the State Health Department emphasized and advised all people who have been given the home quarantine order to always comply with quarantine directives and social distancing measures.
“Use a quarantine room if available; do not leave your house; eat separately from family members; do not watch television in the family living room; use separate bathrooms; wear masks; sleep in separate rooms; do not sleep together and always practice personal hygiene and follow instructions and SOPs, ”he said.
