KUALA LUMPUR: The government today agreed to allow weddings in areas subject to the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), on the condition that they comply with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Chief Minister (Security Group) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) He said the areas involved are Tawau, Kunak, Semporna and Lahad Datu in Sabah, where the CMCO has been extended from October 13 to 26.
However, he said that all wedding ceremonies in towns or urbanizations in these areas must be supervised by the Corps of Volunteers of the People (Rela), or by the hotel management if they are carried out in hotels.
“Weddings with fewer than 100 guests require the supervision of two Rela members, 100 to 300 guests (three Rela members) and 300 to 500 guests (four Rela members).
“If there are more than 500 guests, then the department will determine the number of Rela members according to the total attendance and the space of the place,” he said today at an online press conference via the Facebook page of the Ministry of Defending.
Ismail Sabri said that guests from outside the CMCO area should show invitation cards at the set up barricades.
Regarding school operations, he said that all decisions were under the competence of the Ministry of Education (MOE).
