KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor (Photo) is in voluntary self-quarantine, says Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

“He is in voluntary self-quarantine because one of his staff members tested positive for Covid-19,” said the state’s Minister of Housing and Local Government.

“He is in regular communication with me by phone,” she added on Friday (October 9).

He downplayed claims on social media that Hajiji was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital here after testing positive for Covid-19.

“The speculation and rumors cannot be stopped. They will die naturally, ”he said of the ongoing reports on social media.

WhatsApp messages have been spread on social media, claiming that Hajiji had been admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The Chief Minister’s office on Thursday (Oct 8) said Hajiji was in a two-week self-quarantine after being exposed to a person who tested positive for Covid-19.

Hajiji did not attend the inauguration of five members of his cabinet and 18 assistant ministers in Istana Negeri on Thursday.

He was not present at the swearing-in of the assembly members before President Datuk Kadzim M. Yahaya at the Sabah Assembly on Friday afternoon.
