CYBERJAYA: Malaysia’s Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) today warned of severe actions against those involved in spreading fake news alleging that 13 cabinet ministers had been infected with Covid-19.

MCMC said Chief Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had refuted the claim in his daily press conference, in addition to the rebuttal statement posted on the Sebenarnya.my website.

The commission in a press release said today that the Royal Malaysian Police and MCMC could crack down under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for the crime.

“The MCMC advises the public not to spread false news and to always be careful about spreading dubious news and information,” he said.

The Commission said that the public could verify any information or news on the Sebenarnya.my portal or its Telegram application https://t.me/sebenarnyamy and channel all false news through https://sebenarnya.my/salur/ . – Called
