Compounds in place for violating standard operating procedures

PETALING JAYA: Police can now immediately issue compounds to people who do not adhere to Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs), Chief Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

“To make things easier for the police, the Attorney General’s Office agreed to allow officers with the rank of inspector and higher to have the authority to issue compounds on the spot,” Ismail Sabri announced today through a press conference live on Facebook from his house.

The compound to break Covid-19 SOPs is currently RM1,000.

It also reported that a total of 357 arrests were made yesterday for disobeying the recovery motion control order (RMCO) regulations.

Of this number, 320 compounds were delivered, 35 were sent for further investigations, and two were released on police bail.

He added that 167 were caught for not wearing face masks, 123 for failing to record the personal contact details of their business customers, 34 who did not observe a physical distance of one meter, 23 for not providing valid travel documents, and five were arrested. for leaving an area designated as under a conditional movement control order without permission and five more for violating their self-quarantine orders.

The arrests were made after 52,317 inspections had been carried out.

“Security personnel also arrested 38 undocumented immigrants, two ship captains and four suspected smugglers under Ops Benteng, whose goal is to prevent illegal entry into the country,” he said.
