SMK Mutiara Labuan closed for sanitation after a student tested positive

LABUAN: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Mutiara here was temporarily closed for sanitation after one of its students tested positive for Covid-19, Labuan Health Department Director Dr. Ismuni Bohari said.

“The student lives in a ‘kongsi’ (squatter house) building house with more than 40 people, and he and seven other people living there tested positive.

“He went to school several days before we got his result this morning. It is true that the school has been temporarily closed for sanitation, ”he told Bernama.

He said the student’s parents had tested negative so far.

All of the school’s teachers also underwent swab testing at the Labuan Co-Curriculum Center today as part of the island-wide Covid-19 testing for teachers, he added.

SMK Mutiara had sent a notice to parents this morning asking them to pick up their children at 9.30 a.m. after school closed.

The school’s teachers were ordered to undergo a 14-day home quarantine and teach online. –Called
