KUALA LUMPUR, October 8 – The Proton X50 has received a tremendous response from the public with 20,000 bookings received in two weeks. However, there appear to be unauthorized individuals claiming to accept reservations for the new compact SUV.

The automaker is aware that some irresponsible parties are trying to cash in on the high interest by misrepresenting its identity. Proton emphasizes that only reservations made through authorized Proton distributors and outlets are legitimate. It does not designate third parties outside of its authorized sales network to act as agents for the company’s products.

When in doubt, Proton urged consumers to contact him directly. Those who are interested in the new SUV can find the nearest authorized dealer here. Customers can also call the Proton hotline at 1-800-88-8398 for more information.

The Proton X50 is expected to launch very soon and they have made several media advancements for the new SUV. It will come in 4 variants and 2 engine options. The lower Standard, Executive and Premium all have a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged port injection engine, while the flagship version has a direct fuel injection variant that puts out 175 hp and 255 Nm of torque.
