PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health has detected two new Covid-19 clusters, in Selangor and Penang, known as the Bah Puchong and Remand Prison clusters respectively.

Health Director-General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Bah Puchong group’s cases were traced to people from Petaling, Selangor, and two Perak districts, namely Kinta and Larut-Matang-Selama.

The index cases, three individuals, in the group tested positive on October 5 after returning from Sabah. All three have been admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.

After they tested positive, close contact tests were carried out where two positive cases were found in the districts of Larut-Matang-Selama and Kinta.

So far, a total of 39 people in this group have been tested and 34 await test results.

Meanwhile, the remand group was caught after an 85-year-old Malaysian detainee was found unconscious and later died on October 5.
