PETALING JAYA: A teacher from SMK Taman Sea here tested positive for Covid-19. Following this, the students and staff members of the school were ordered to self-quarantine immediately.

A member of the school’s teaching staff told the FMT that the teacher in question had reportedly tested positive for the virus while in Kelantan.

“The teacher had already been in home quarantine in Kelantan after coming into contact with an infected person, but the principal now ordered the students and teachers to take the necessary precautions,” he said.

He added that the infected person, who is a close contact of the teacher, had been infected by a person who had returned from Sabah.

“We are awaiting further instructions from the Ministry of Education,” he said.

Yesterday, Malaysia reported a record 691 Covid-19 cases, most of them from Sabah and Kedah.

FMT awaits confirmation from the Ministry of Health in this regard.
