Edinson Cavani was about to retire from soccer before moving to Manchester United after his girlfriend contracted the coronavirus.
The Uruguayan international moved to Old Trafford on the deadline after his contract at Paris St-Germain expired.
He arrives with great experience and as one of the deadliest strikers in Europe in the last 10 years.
And they’ve even given him the famous number 7 jersey, like the one Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and George Best wear.
The 33-year-old signed a £ 200,000-a-week contract, but it hardly ever came to fruition.
Shortly after his departure from PSG in the summer, Cavani’s girlfriend contracted coronavirus and the forward admitted that he almost quit soccer.
“Your family’s health comes first,” he said. “Of course, I considered the idea of quitting football.
“We have suffered the coronavirus with my family and with my girlfriend.”
In an interview with Argentine radio, Cavani revealed how the virus that hit Jocelyn Burgardt caused her great concern.
Manchester United are looking to chart their way back to the top. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already signed Donny van de Beek, but Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United’s number one target.

He said: “The truth is that it was wrong because of the fear it awakens. Thank God we recovered well and evolved well and here we are.
