PETALING JAYA: Assemblyman of Selangor DAP Lim Yi Wei(Photo) has confirmed that he has tested positive for Covid-19 following his return from Sabah recently.

The 31-year-old assemblyman from Kampung Tunku urges everyone who has been in contact with her in the past 14 days to get screened at the nearest health clinic.

Lim said he initially tested negative after undergoing a KLIA2 swab test upon returning to Sabah on September 27.

“Since day one, I have been quarantined at home. On September 30, I called the Petaling health district office to find out my results. They were negative and they asked me to come the next day to remove the bracelet.

“However, I did experience some symptoms associated with Covid-19,” he said in a statement on Monday (October 5).

On the advice of Petaling health authorities, Lim said he had a second swab test done on Friday (October 2) and continued with his self-quarantine.

He said he received news of his results from the Petaling health authorities today confirming that he had contracted the virus.

“My team has also self-quarantined from day one. They have tested negative on their first swab test and will do a second test,” he added.

He extended his apology to all Ministry of Health staff, colleagues and those who have had problems despite their efforts to take all precautions, including self-quarantine, since September 27.
