Paradigm Mall Confirms Store Staff Member Tests Positive for Covid-19

PETALING JAYA: Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya management has confirmed that a Brands Outlet staff member in their building tested positive for Covid-19.

The mall’s management said it is closely monitoring the progress and will provide the necessary support to the tenant by following the health and safety guidelines of the Ministry of Health.

“We are given to understand that the staff member has a roommate (who is not a member of the establishment staff or any other tenant of the mall) who had recently returned from Sabah on or about September 27,” it said in a statement on Monday (October 5).

The mall’s management also said the point-of-sale staff member had been on leave from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1 and had not entered the store since Oct. 3.

“He had only shown up for work on Friday (October 2) during which the outlet confirmed that his temperature was below 37.5 degrees Celsius and that he was not showing any symptoms.

“Subsequently, the media staff member was contacted and notified by the Ministry of Health that his roommate tested positive for Covid-19.

“Consequently, the patient requested a medical leave from October 3 to undergo the tests and had not reported to work or entered the mall since then,” the statement said.

The individual’s co-workers, as well as those who have been in direct contact with him, are being located, notified and advised to immediately self-quarantine, he added.

“They are also advised to seek immediate medical assistance if they begin to show any symptoms or feel unwell,” he said.

In a separate statement, Padini Holdings Berhad said it will temporarily close the store in the mall to mitigate the risk of infection.

He said the store will also undergo a deep cleaning and sanitation process, and will arrange for its staff to be examined and subjected to a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine as a precautionary measure.

The outlet will also keep track of your staff’s contacts.

“The safety and health of team members and buyers remain our priority. As such, all information about Covid-19 will be shared quickly and accurately. We apologize for any inconvenience caused,” he said.
