IPOH: Police have launched an investigation into two “insulting” banners related to Covid-19 posted in two places here yesterday.
Ipoh Police Chief A Asmadi Abdul Aziz said they were informed of the first banner, which used a four-letter obscene word, hung from the Raja Permaisuri Bainun pedestrian bridge here at 9pm.
He said the police went to the scene but did not find the banner.
“However, after searching the area, they found a white banner with insulting words written in red and black on a garbage container at the bus stop in Jalan Raja Ashman Shah, which was heading to Angsana Mall,” he said today in a statement.
Asmadi said the team was informed about the second banner with the words “Rakyat jaga rakyat, menteri jaga poket” (“People take care of the people, the ministers watch their pockets”), allegedly hanging in the food court of the Perak Stadium shortly after midnight.
“When the police arrived at the scene, there was no banner. A search around the area resulted in no such banner being found. “
He said there were no closed-circuit television cameras in both areas and that no witnesses had come forward.
