KOTA KINABALU: Sabah wants the National Security Council to urgently impose stricter motion control orders on the state amid a growing number of Covid-19 cases reported across the state.
The Covid-19 state management committee chaired by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor (Photo) recommends that the NSC approve only essential services and the immediate closure of schools and religious sites, among others.
In a statement, Hajiji said his recommendations were:
# Allow only business premises for essential services and goods to function
# to close stores except those involved in the sale of essential goods and services
#do not allow dining in services in restaurants, coffeeshops and stalls
#closure of tamu (markets) night and markets pass tani
#closure of all religious houses to the public
#closure of public parks, recreation centers, indoor and outdoor play areas
#closure of public libraries
#closure of schools, including kindergartens, nurseries, etc.
# Reduce by 50% the passenger capacity on public transport buses
# Limit two people to one car
# To allow published quarantine centers to become additional rooms for treating patients, i.e., hospital extension
Hajiji said they expected the state government’s request to be approved by the NSC immediately to allow it to run until October 16.
He said that the measures were necessary from October 1 to October 4, there has been a triple-digit increase in the number of cases.
He said there were 138 cases in October 1,133 cases in 2,155 cases in October 3 and 129 cases in October 4.
The number of Covid-19 cases admitted to hospitals was 1,206 people.
The state government had already imposed restrictions on non-Sabahans entering the state since October 3.
He urged the public to follow current SOPs, as it was important for everyone to play their part in controlling the spread of Covid-19 in Sabah.
