JOHOR BARU: Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar of Johor will award a special medal “Pingat Jasa Dikenang” (Remembrance of Service) to Covid-19 leaders for actively participating in the fight against the pandemic in the state.

His Majesty said that the medals, along with letters of appreciation, would be awarded to selected recipients from various government agencies and other individuals working behind the scenes who were directly involved in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The award of this medal is a gesture of my sincere thanks and gratitude to our leaders in Johor, who continue to serve tirelessly and often at great personal risk to themselves.

“This is also an acknowledgment of their outstanding contributions and great sacrifice. Even I don’t deserve this for myself. Keep up the good fight. I hope that the general public will also do their best to cooperate and prevent this virus from getting worse, ”His Majesty added.

His Majesty said this in a statement posted on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page here on Sunday (October 4).

The specially designed medals come on red, white and blue ribbons depicting the Johor flag, with the reverse depicting 10 hands embracing each other, which is a symbol of the 10 districts of Johor.

Sultan Ibrahim added that the medals would be awarded to those who truly deserve them, after careful scrutiny by the heads of relevant departments and agencies.

“The heads of the Department of Health, Police, Armed Forces, Fire and Rescue, as well as other departments will identify recipients who are deemed worthy,” Her Majesty said.
