KUCHING (October 3): Sarawak recorded three new imported Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of positive cases in the state to 716.
“Of these, two cases were registered in Sibu and one case in Kuching. They are all imported cases, ”the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) reported in a statement on Saturday.
Case 714 is a security guard who has just returned from a vacation in Tawau, Sabah. The case works in Kapit and he returned to his home district in Tawau on September 17 and was in Sabah until September 30.
He flew from Tawau to Kota Kinabalu International Airport on September 29 and spent one night in Kota Kinabalu.
The case then continued its journey from Kota Kinabalu to Kuching on September 30, before continuing its journey to Sibu the same day.
This case received a 14-day home quarantine order.
During its stopover at Kuching International Airport, the case underwent a Covid-19 smear test and its rT-PCR test came back positive on October 2. He had previously undergone a Covid-19 test at a private clinic in Tawau on September 28 and was tested. negative.
This case shows no symptoms of Covid-19. The case was admitted to Sibu Hospital on the date its result was released and is classified as a case that contracted the infection in a high-risk district in Sabah. Close contact tracing is in full swing.
Case 715 is a local who works as a teacher in a school in Tambunan, Sabah. The case returned to Sibu for vacation on September 30. The case flew from Kota Kinabalu International Airport with a stopover at Kuching International Airport before heading to Sibu the same day.
The last time the case returned to Sibu was in June 2020.
During the stopover at Kuching International Airport, the case underwent a Covid-19 swab test and the rT-PCR test came back positive on October 2. The case was also evaluated for Covid-19 at a government clinic in Luyang on September 27, but the result was negative. .
This case is also asymptomatic and was admitted to Sibu Hospital the day the results were released. The case was classified as a case that contracted the infection from a high-risk district in Sabah and close contact tracing is ongoing.
Case number 716 involves a local man working on an oil rig operated by an oil company in Kota Kinabalu. The case was signed from the platform on September 29. Upon arrival ashore, the case, along with the other crew members, was placed in a hotel and underwent a Covid-19 screening on
private medical center in Jesselton, Sabah on the same day.
The results of the case and the other members of the crew were said to be negative.
On September 30, he returned to Kuching by flight from Kota Kinabalu International Airport to Kuching International Airport (KIA). Upon arriving at the airport, he underwent the hyssop test and received the 14-day home quarantine order.

Meanwhile, SDMC also reported that there were no recovery and discharge cases for the day. To date, 682 or 95.25% of all cases have been recovered and discharged.
“A total of 15 cases continue to be treated in the isolation rooms of the hospitals. Seven cases are being treated at Sarawak General Hospital, five cases at Miri Hospital, two at Sibu Hospital and one at Bintulu Hospital, ”he said.
