JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Super League match between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Sabah on Friday (Oct 2) was the last outing of national footballer Safawi Rasid for the Johor club as it sealed his seventh league title .

You will now embark on your European adventure in Portugal.

In a statement posted on the Tigres del Sur Facebook page, JDT wished Safawi all the best on his incorporation to Portimonense SC of the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

The Terengganu-born has been an excellent server for the club since his debut on January 27, 2017.

He made 101 appearances for JDT, scoring 47 goals and giving 18 assists in his four seasons there.

Safawi has won four Malaysian Super League titles, two Malaysian Cups and three Charity Cups with the South Tigers.

In his last appearance for JDT, Safawi scored two goals in the 56th and 80th minute.

The two goals, along with those of Diogo Santo (38th) and Leandro Velásquez (84th) were enough to beat Sabah 4-1 at Iskandar Puteri’s Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.

The victory helped JDT defend their league title for the seventh time in a row.
