KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin has urged the public to continue cooperating with the government in Covid-19 mitigation efforts.

Juhar said he welcomed the measures introduced by the government to curb the spread of the virus and ensure that people’s well-being is taken care of, adding that public compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) is needed.

“As we know, the state still faces the threats of a pandemic and a solution has not yet been seen.

That is why we must always follow the protocols established by the government. We have no choice but to live by the new standard for the good of all, ”he said.

Juhar said this in his official 67th birthday message in the Istana Negeri on Saturday (October 3), adding that the people of Sabah should also support the government in pushing forward the development of the state to ensure it recovers economically after the pandemic.

“All planning for the prosperity of the state can only be executed if the programs have the support of all sectors,” he said.

Juhar said that the digital platform should continue to be used to ensure fast services and the sustainability of the economic sector.

“Technology applications have assumed an important role in the daily lives of people around the world, including ours. This rings especially true with restricted movement due to the pandemic, ”he added.

In his message, he also congratulated the new chief minister, Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor, and the state cabinet ministers who were appointed, and said he believes the alignment will be able to meet any challenges that arise while ensuring continued prosperity in Sabah.

Juhar’s birthday ceremony included the presentation of 15 awardees out of a total of 679 on the list of honors with their awards, where Hajiji, Deputy Chief Ministers Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin and Datuk Dr. Jeffery Kitingan were present.

The state government and Istana Negeri officials have taken safety precautions in handling the ceremony in the vicinity of Istana Negeri, including keeping track of all given SOPs.
