She said all 50 schools in the district had been closed because the improved motion control (MCO) order went into effect until October 12.
Semporna is among the four red zone districts under improved OLS today.
There are a total of 388 Covid-19 cases in Semporna as of October 1.
The other red zones are Tawau with 781 cases, Lahad Datu (304) and Kunak 149 cases.
Malaysia reported 260 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday (October 1), its biggest daily increase in infections since June 4, mainly due to an outbreak in the state of Sabah, the Health Ministry said.

The spike in cases came after an increase in travel to and from Sabah for state elections held last Saturday (September 26).
The Malaysian government announced a travel ban among Sabah’s 27 districts on Thursday.
The travel restrictions will begin at midnight on Saturday (October 3) and will apply for 14 days until October 16.
Chief Minister (security group) Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that during this period only essential services will be allowed, such as food supplies and medical and security services that require travel between districts.
