MELAKA: The state government has rescheduled all programs and appointments involving Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali and other key officials after a member of the assembly tested positive for Covid-19.

A statement from the Melaka Chief Minister’s office on Thursday (October 1) said that the activities of Secretary of State Datuk Seri Dr. Hasim Hasan and all executive councilors have been postponed indefinitely.

He also said that those who wish to visit the state administration center, Seri Negeri at Ayer Keroh, must adhere to health guidelines and standard operating procedure (SOP).

He said the disinfection work carried out at Seri Negeri on Thursday was part of the routine exercise by health authorities during the recovery motion control (MCO) order period.

“Therefore, the state government urges local residents not to panic upon receiving unfounded messages circulating on social media,” the statement added.

Previously, messages circulated saying that several state assemblymen had also confirmed that it was positive for Covid-19 and that Seri Negeri had been shut down.
