PETALING JAYA: Stronger Covid-19 screening will be implemented at all public transport terminals, stations and service counters starting Friday (October 2), says Transport Minister Datuk Seri, Dr. Wee Ka Siong.

“As of October 2, all terminal and station operators, including public transportation service counters, will be required to implement Covid-19 preventive measures, including stricter health assessments,” it said in a statement Thursday (1 October).

He said this included applying standard operating procedures established by the National Security Council, such as cleaning and disinfecting, physical social distancing, and wearing face masks.

He said the regulations would be enforced without compromising the interests of the public, including travelers and personnel involved in the public transportation sector.

Please pay close attention to the matter.

“Today (October 1) up to 260 positive cases of Covid-19 were reported and the triple digit increase is something that worries everyone,” said Dr. Wee, adding that no one wanted a motion control order (MCO ).

He reminded the public to adhere to Covid-19 preventive measures, avoid crowded places, and seek immediate medical attention if you develop symptoms of infection.

“Fighting the Covid-19 pandemic is everyone’s responsibility,” he added.

Chief Health Officer Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah announced that there were 260 new cases of Covid-19 in the country, the largest increase since the MCO recovery phase began on June 9.
