PUTRAJAYA: The report of the special working group set up to address the Felda problems is ready to be presented to the Cabinet, said the Minister of the Department (Economy) of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

“It’s almost finished. We are in the process of bringing it to the Cabinet to discuss the matter soon, ”he said, adding that the report was presented by the chair of the working group, Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar (pix).

Mustapa said the report was completed after several participation sessions, including those involving Felda’s management.

He told reporters this after officiating at the Economic Action Council (EAC) and United Nations (UN) round table on eradicating poverty and addressing vulnerabilities in the new normal here today.

The report of the working group was drawn up after the presentation of the white paper “Towards the sustainability of Felda” in parliament in April last year.

In July, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin ordered the establishment of a special working group to find the best solution to ensure the financial sustainability and viability of Felda.

“Several suggestions have been made (in the report), but the most important thing is to solve several short-term problems, specifically Felda’s cash flow and ensure that it becomes a sustainable organization,” he said, adding that it was important to look The new Felda model to address these problems.-Called
