KOTA KINABALU: Police have received 199 reports of various crimes committed during the 16th state election campaign since it began on September 12, Sabah Police Commissioner Hazani Ghazali said.

He said that 62 investigative documents have been opened on these cases.

“Among the crimes committed are mischief, defamation, extortion, misuse of network facilities and use of an identification card of another person.”

He said the investigation documents would be forwarded to the deputy prosecutor’s office for further instructions.

“No matter who wins and the people give the mandate, the Sabah police remain neutral to ensure order, safety and the well-being of Sabah,” he said.
