KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional boss Bung Moktar Radin has taken a slight lead in the Lamag spot with Warisan Plus’ Mohd Ismail Ayob closely following, in the first unofficial results.

Five candidates compete for the constituency, which has 8,159 voters.

His rivals for the seat are Mohd. Ismail Ayob from Warisan; Razman Mayan (PCS); Mohd Al Ruzaine @ Sairin Abdul Rahman (PPRS); and independent candidate Junny @ Karuak Abdullah.

The Lamag seat is newly created and is being contested for the first time. It is one of 13 new seats created by the state assembly that received approval in July of last year.

Lamag is within the Kinabatangan parliamentary constituency, where Bung Mokhtar has been a deputy for six terms. He returned to the seat in 2018 with a majority of 9,400 votes against Warisan and PHRS candidates.
