KLANG (THE STAR / ASIA NEWS NETWORK) – Several elected representatives in Selangor say they had been aware of the move planned by Parti Keadilan Rakyat president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to form the federal government for quite some time.
Selangor State Assembly Speaker Ng Suee Lim said he had been hearing since last month that Datuk Seri Anwar would make some “big changes”.
“The conversation had gathered momentum on the ground a month ago and I know for a fact that Datuk Seri Anwar has been working very hard to gain support to form the next government,” Ng said when contacted on Thursday (September 24).
Ng believes that Anwar’s announcement has a solid foundation and that is why his party leader, DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng, had issued a statement supporting the PKR president.
“Right now, all we have to do is watch and be prepared for the mandate to be returned to the people,” he said.
Kapar PKR MP Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid said it was certain that Anwar would soon form the federal government.
He claimed that Anwar had received strong support from many Perikatan Nasional MPs who want to see a change, which he said would be imminent.
His party colleague and assemblyman from Sentosa, Gunaraj George, expected Yang di-Pertuan Agong to speed up the change of government once Anwar gets permission to have an audience with the ruler.
Tanjong Sepat PKR Assemblyman Borhan Aman Shah said he was convinced there would be a change soon.
“The only problem now is that he still cannot have an audience with the King,” he said.
Selangor’s opposition chief Rizam Ismail from Umno said Anwar should follow the correct channels if he has the numbers.
