Muhyiddin Yassin told the crowd that this was a historic night for the GRS campaign.

KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin expressed his confidence that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will win the Sabah elections, following a large turnout in the coalition’s Perdana ceramah here tonight.

As more than 1,000 people packed the ceramah at Kampung Sendil Putatan, Muhyiddin said this was an early sign that GRS was going to score a big victory on Saturday.

“It seems that Sabahans support for candidates competing under GRS is so clear. Thousands have come out to express their support and to see a major change in the state after the September 26 elections.

“This ‘change’ is the formation of a new GRS state government, comprising parties in Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN), PBS and other compatriots parties,” he said in his speech.

He told the crowd that the direction of the state was in his hands, adding that his wisdom in casting his votes will define how Sabah will be administered and developed in the future.

Muhyiddin also told the crowd that he had tried to contact Shafie Apdal when he formed the government in March, but the Warisan president did not respond to his phone call.

“Unfortunately, Warisan is not with us,” he said.

He reiterated that it was important that the state and federal governments work hand in hand for the benefit of Sabah, emphasizing the need to vote for GRS.

Nonetheless, he acknowledged that Shafie had done something good in his tenure as prime minister, and said it would be unfair to say that the Warisan president had done nothing at all for Sabah.
