PETALING JAYA: The military has denied claims that its personnel were infected by Covid-19 after dipping their fingers in indelible ink during early voting for the Sabah state elections on Tuesday.
“The information that is being disseminated on social networks is not true and can cause confusion and concern among the community, as well as interrupt the electoral process.
“(We) emphasize that any individual found to be spreading false news can be charged under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) of 1998,” he said in a statement today, adding that individuals should not be easily swayed by rumors that can arouse concern.
“Get the latest information on Covid-19 from official channels such as the National Security Council and the Ministry of Health.”
Early voting for the Sabah state elections was held on Tuesday to allow 16,877 police and military personnel and their spouses to cast their votes at 55 polling centers across the state.
