John Barnes message to Jurgen Klopp about Thiago after record debut

Liverpool legend John Barnes has told Jurgen Klopp that he has landed the best possessions trader in the world with new signing Thiago Alcantara.

The 29-year-old has wasted no time showing his quality since his £ 25 million trade from Bayern Munich.

His debut was probably a little earlier than Klopp had anticipated against Chelsea, as Jordan Henderson’s injury caused Thiago to replace the Reds captain at halftime.

But it only took Thiago half the football to write his name in the history books, recording 75 completions, the most any player has accomplished in 45 minutes of Premier League football.

“Thiago was incredible in his debut this weekend,” said Reds icon Barnes. BonusCodeBets.

“For him, he entered the field at halftime in the best possible situation. Playing against a 10-man team, so he will get a lot of ball, he will really dominate the situation and the game in the middle of the park.

“He broke the Premier League record for the most passes completed by a player in 45 minutes, which says a lot about his quality and what he can bring to this team going forward.”

While Thiago gave away an ill-fated penalty, luck was on his side when Chelsea’s Jorginho saw his effort stopped by Liverpool’s No.1 Alisson.

And his mistake was soon forgotten when his efficient display in the middle of the park won much applause.

Liverpool moved to sign the Spaniard to help gain more control during matches, and Barnes feels he couldn’t be a more ideal addition.

“It will be interesting to see how he does against teams like Manchester City when he doesn’t see as much possession, but these are all good problems for Jurgen Klopp,” added Barnes.

“However, to keep the ball, there is no better player in world football than Thiago to do it.”
