Malaysia has won the title of ‘Medical and Health Tourism: Destination of the Year’ for the fourth time.

Chief Health Officer Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah dedicated the victory, which was announced yesterday at the 2020 Medical Tourism Award ceremony in London, to all stakeholders in the Malaysian healthcare sector.

“Once again, my sincere congratulations to the entire team,” he said today on Facebook.

Malaysia’s Health Tourism Council (MHTC) said in a statement that the victory enhanced the country’s position as the world’s health care wonder and reflects the strong commitment of relevant organizations to ensure dedicated healthcare amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, MHTC continued their winning streak by earning an impressive fourth ‘Cluster of the Year’ award.

MHTC attributed the victory to the strong public-private partnerships that have been an integral part of Malaysia’s thriving health care growth in recent years.

Several Malaysian private healthcare institutions also won victories at the prestigious event. Among them were Sunway Fertility Center (International Fertility Clinic of the Year); Prince Court Medical Center (International Hospital of the Year); Sunway Eye Center (International Ophthalmology Clinic of the Year); and Thompson Hospital Kota Damansara (better quality initiative).
