Watford winger Ismaila Sarr was left out of the team of the day amid reports that he is close to joining Liverpool.

The 22-year-old was absent from Watford’s EFL Cup clash against Newport County, which they lost, apparently due to speculation about his future.

Liverpool were very interested in Sarr this summer and the Reds even met with their representatives. However, they decided to move in for Diogo Jota, who joined last week from the Wolves.

The Champions have enough depth in their offensive midfield region after Jota’s arrival and adding another winger to the ranks doesn’t make sense.

However, France Football insisted earlier this week that Liverpool are still interested in Sarr. In fact, they have claimed that the Reds have secured a deal with Watford and are looking to work out personal terms with the player.

Sarr could have missed the match as a result of the roster rotation, but many other first-team players participated in the match.

Continued speculation about the player’s future is making it difficult for the Watford manager to fully trust the player.

Sarr is a very talented player and he would be an exciting signing for Liverpool. Sky Sports reported last month that Watford is demanding £ 40 million for the end.
