KOTA KINABALU: Sabah MPs aligned with Pakatan Harapan are silent on PKR President Anwar Ibrahim’s claim that he has the numbers to form a government.
FMT reached out to several leaders from Warisan, which has nine MPs in Sabah and Labuan. However, some calls went unanswered while other deputies chose not to comment.
Among those who declined to comment was Warisan Vice President Darell Leiking, who is a deputy from Penampang.
Labuan MP Rozman Isli said he was “not aware of all this.”
“For now, I do not want to comment because this is something shocking and I have not spoken with my boss (the president of Warisan, Shafie Apdal),” he told FMT.
Warisan’s ally, Tuaran MP Wilfred Madius Tangau, who is Upko’s only MP, said he heard the news during his election campaign in Kiulu, where he faces five others, including PBS chief information officer Joniston Bangkuai, for the state post.

Earlier, Anwar announced that he had received “strong and convincing majority support” from MPs to form a new government.
Anwar told a press conference that due to the overwhelming majority it had, Muhyiddin Yassin’s government had fallen, adding that the King had agreed to grant him an audience.
Meanwhile, Sabah and Sarawak Affairs Minister Maximus Ongkili, who is also PBS Chairman and Kota Marudu MP, also declined to comment on the matter.
Sabah PPBM’s Beaufort MP Azizah Dun told the FMT that Anwar was only creating a distraction to influence Sabah state elections and shift votes to PKR candidates, who were contesting seven seats.
“He is an expert in sensationalizing things from before. Remember you said you had the numbers to form the government last time?
“So, I think he’s just trying to change the votes. This is just a distraction to influence the outcome of the elections, ”he said, adding that the party’s seven MPs would remain loyal to Perikatan Nasional.
Previously, PAS said that none of its 18 deputies would back Anwar, while Gabungan Parti Sarawak also denied it was supporting the opposition leader.
