KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has become a victim of the “power game” at the federal level, says Tan Sri Bernard Dompok (Photo).

The former prime minister also claimed that the state has become the “theater of war” among Putrajaya’s political elites in their quest for power to control the country.

Upko’s honorary chairman said this in a YouTube video uploaded on Wednesday (September 23) by the party’s chief of information, Albert Bingkasan.

Saying Malaysia is now a “troubled nation”, Dompok said Malaysians first voted for a change in the federal government in 2018, but that the country’s administration has become a “back door government.”

“Today, due to the instability in Kuala Lumpur, they have come to Sabah to get the support of Sabahans.

“Now we have elections in Sabah. What is at stake is the soul of the nation,” he said.

The former Vatican City ambassador said that everything was being thrown at the people of Sabah just to get votes.

“You’re talking about intimidation, about attracting people with prospects for involvement in the federal government.

“And he is even trafficking in resources that were taken from Sabah,” he added.

Dompok further claimed that the federal government has resorted to threatening people with reduced development funds.

In the video, he endorsed Acting Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and urged people to keep choosing Warisan Plus in state polls this weekend.
