KOTA KINABALU: Khairy Jamaluddin (Photo) has berated former Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi for hinting that there is a political conspiracy behind the sudden increase in Covid-19 cases in Sabah.

“First, you said that Kg Tanduo’s fight was ‘fighting chickens and dogs’. Now, the Covid-19 pandemic is being described as a political conspiracy. Stop that policy,” Khairy tweeted on Tuesday (September 22).

Mohamaddin had come under fire for his comments on the Lahad Datu intrusion in 2013.

On Monday (September 21), Mohamaddin said he was stumped when Lahad Datu recorded nearly 60 cases as the pandemic broke out globally and suddenly spiked to 500 cases as the 16th Sabah election was just around the corner.

“Don’t tell me the election brings Covid-19 – give a real account, do your job properly and don’t scare the people of Sabah,” said Mohamadin, who will compete under a Parti Warisan Sabah ballot at Segama.

“Do not play with Covid-19, we know that the previous propaganda had been ineffective, such as Sabah joining the Philippines. I can predict that the number of Covid-19 (cases) will drop to zero after the elections end on 27th of September or 28, “Mohamaddin said at a press conference at Warisan’s office in Silam on Monday.

The Lahad Datu MP, who is involved in an eight-corner brawl, had claimed that the 2013 shooting with Sulu militants was “just a show” to win votes and help Barisan Nasional win the 13th general election.

Mohamaddin had said that a video clip of his speech had been taken out of context and broadcast by people who wanted to see Warisan lose the election.
