KUALA LUMPUR (September 22): Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim will step down as president of Celcom Axiata Bhd on October 15, while Datuk Izzaddin Idris will assume the presidency as of October 16, according to a statement from Axiata Group Bhd.

Izzaddin is currently Group Chief Executive Officer / Deputy Managing Director and Appointed General Director of the Axiata Group, and Chairman of the Board of Celcom Axiata.

In the statement, Axiata said that this transition is a decisive step forward and part of the larger plan in the smooth and seamless leadership succession plan at Axiata.

Jamaludin, whom Axiata announced in January that his contract expired on March 2 extended to the end of the year, will continue his role as president and CEO of the Axiata group until the end of December.
