A partial truce is reached between PBS and Star

SABAH SURVEYS | Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) agreed to cease its campaign for the electoral districts of Tambunan and Bingkor, paving the way for Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) to defend the two seats it won in 2018.

The agreement was reached after a meeting chaired by the Secretary General of Perikatan Nasional (PN), Hamzah Zainudin. It is also the birthplace of PBS.

In return, Star, according to its president Jeffrey Kitingan, will ensure that independent candidates Pransol Tiying and Marcel Jude support the PBS candidates for Bengkoka and Api-Api.

Jeffrey said the two independent candidates were endorsed by Star.

Under Section 9 of the Elections (Conduct of Elections) Regulations 1981, a candidate may only withdraw from an election before 10 am on the day of the nomination.

This means that the logos and names of the candidates who wanted to “withdraw” from the race will continue to appear on the respective ballots.

On the day of the nomination, there were 17 candidates from the PN-BN-PBS alliance facing each other in state elections.

According to Hamzah, the three political entities were still working to resolve disputes involving 15 other seats.
