PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Health reported today 57 new Covid-19 infections, 51 of them local transmissions.
The new infections brought the total number of Covid-19 infections to 10,276.
Sabah again recorded the highest number of infections with 49 cases, 14 from the Pulau group and 12 from the Selamat group.
No new Covid-19-related deaths were reported, and the death toll stood at 130, or 1.28% of all cases.
In a statement, Chief Health Officer Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said 40 people have been discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,395.
There are currently 751 active cases, with nine patients in intensive care units and two requiring ventilation.
The new cases in Sabah included five each from the Benteng Lahad Datu group and the new Quarters group.
There were also several sporadic cases in the state, including two patients with severe acute respiratory illnesses at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, two detainees at Beaufort Police Headquarters and two trainers at a rehabilitation center.
Two other symptom-presenting patients were also found to be Covid-19 positive at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, while one case was detected at Wanita dan Kanak-Kanak Likas Hospital during a pre-operation evaluation.
A patient with an influenza-like illness tested positive at Klinik Kesihatan Tawau, while baseline examinations also detected a case at Lahad Datu Hospital and Tawau Hospital.
Close contact evaluations also detected one case that was not linked to any group in Sabah.
In Selangor, a patient was detected in a pre-operative examination, while Kedah recorded a case from the Sungai group.
The imported cases today involve one Malaysian and five foreigners. They tested positive upon arrival from the UK, Pakistan and Zambia. Three illegal immigrants from Indonesia also tested positive in Selangor.
