Thiago Alcantara’s purchase of Liverpool is a ‘scary’ prospect for the rest of the Premier League and teams across Europe, according to Spanish soccer analyst Domagoj Kostanjšak.
The Reds have added a player who offers something different in his midfield, even though that area of the field is full of options.
Liverpool already have players like captain Jordan Henderson, former RB Leipzig player Naby Keita and Barcelona-linked Gini Wijnaldum in their ranks, as well as Brazilian star Fabinho, but Thiago is stylistically different from any of them.
Kostanjšak told Blood Red on a special Thiago Alcantara podcast: “Looking at Liverpool, they are a scary team. With Thiago on the team, this is something they needed.
“Liverpool have a different midfielder and Thiago adds a whole new dimension.
“He can penetrate teams through the middle of the park and put Thiago on that team, you get that verticality. He’s an elite passer and no midfielder in Liverpool has the passing range and vision that he has.”
“He can pick up the pace when needed, he can slow it down when needed, and it’s just a one-man army in midfield!
“Liverpool were quiet all summer, but this signing is what they needed to continue dominance. They have all the necessary pieces and this will push them even higher.”
Thiago is expected to join the squad immediately, and while it may take a few weeks to adjust and get used to Jurgen Klopp’s system, the Spaniard is not expected to take long to set his mark.

Timo Werner, who signed for Chelsea this summer despite his constant ties to Liverpool before that move was made, explained this week that the Premier League is very different from the Bundesliga.
He said: “Soccer is more about power and strength. I might have to adapt a bit for some games. But I want to play, score and win things.
“I think maybe [it will take time], but maybe not. I think Premier League football suits me very well. “

But Kostanjšak added: “There will be a window of adaptation and we have heard Timo Werner talk about the difference between the Bundesliga and the Premier League and how different it is.
“He is more physical and faster, but Thiago is a player who is one step ahead of the rivals to avoid tough duels. He can outsmart the rivals instead of beating them.”
Thiago could line up against Werner at Stamford Bridge on Sunday because his transfer paperwork was sent to the Premier League in time for him to be part of the Liverpool team traveling to London.
