LABUAN: Travelers from certain parts of Sabah will be subject to stricter health checks when entering Labuan due to the increase in Covid-19 cases in mainland Sabah, said Labuan Health Department Director Dr. Ismuni Bohari.
He said that depending on their travel history, those who had been out of Labuan for more than three days may have to undergo a swab test at Labuan airport and the ferry terminal.
“Those who return to Labuan after being in Lahad Datu and Tawau for at least three days would have to undergo mandatory swab testing,” he said.
“It is a normal standard operating procedure (SOP) for people with a history of travel to places with an increase in Covid-19 cases,” he said. Named Here today.
Dr Ismuni denied rumors that local travelers who had been off the island for a day would have to undergo swab testing and quarantine upon return.
“We impose the normal procedure; there are no swab tests for those who travel 24 hours.
“We still have to look at his health and other criteria before we do the test,” he said.
There has been an increase in travel between Labuan and mainland Sabah since the campaign for the 16th Sabah state elections began on 12 September. Voting will take place on September 26. Named
