Man City’s injury hit Sergio Agüero, ruled out for ‘months’ and is a doubt for Liverpool’s clash

Manchester City have suffered a major injury early in the new season as Sergio Agüero could be absent from action for another two months with a knee injury and is a doubt to face Liverpool in November.

The forward was unable to complete the full 90 minutes after the restart at the end of last season and was unable to participate in the late UEFA Champions League finish after undergoing surgery.

Not only was he unable to participate in City’s first game of the new season, but he will now miss his game against Wolves on Monday and is not expected to do so anytime soon over the next few months in league and cup matches, according to his manager.

Now it is also a doubt for Liverpool’s visit to Etihad on November 7 as Guardiola’s team seeks to regain the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola confirmed in his last press conference that it could be a while before Agüero makes his return.

He said, “We knew the injury was tough. He’s doing the job. I think maybe in a month, two months, he’ll be ready.”

“He has to go back to the field and regain physical condition. Sergio was there for a long time and Sergio is not a boy who regains physical condition quickly.

“He hasn’t even done a training session with us yet.”

Defender Aymeric Laporte is also currently unavailable after returning after testing positive for coronavirus according to Sky Sports.

Guardiola said: “Riyad came back three or four days ago. He is training but today (Friday) was the first day that Aymeric Laporte returned with us.

“I think Riyad will be available, but Laporte is not yet.”
