New cluster detected in Semporna, Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR: Today another new group, called the Bakau group, was detected in Semporna, Sabah, of which three positive cases of Covid-19 were reported.

In the Sungai group, Dr. Noor Hisham said that eight new cases were reported in Kedah, bringing the total positive cases in this group to 73, with 23,935 people tested as of noon today.

Dr Noor Hisham said that in Kedah, 23,748 people have been screened so far, with 72 positive cases detected, including eight new cases today, adding that in Penang, 142 people have undergone screening, while 45 individuals in Perlis have been tested and one tested positive for the virus.

As for the group of Benteng Lahad Datu (LD), a new positive case was reported today, bringing the total number of cases to 551, with 7,985 individuals evaluated so far.

He said that in Tawau, 5,975 people were tested and 399 of them tested positive, including a new case today, adding that in Lahad Datu, 2,009 have undergone tests (151 positive cases) while in Sandakan, one person tested positive.

“Of the 551 positive cases in this group, 272 involve Malays, while 279 are foreigners involving Filipinos (185 cases) and Indonesians (94 cases),” said Dr. Noor Hisham. – Named
