DG Health: New Covid-19 cluster found in Semporna, Sabah

PETALING JAYA: A new Covid-19 cluster has been found in Sabah, according to Health Director General Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah.

“The ministry wishes to report that a new group has been identified in Semporna, Sabah. The index case is a Filipino woman (case 10,145), which was the 129th fatal case.

“A close contact examination was conducted and two cases of Covid-19 were found in this group from Bakau. The two are a Malaysian and a Filipino who have been admitted to the Tawau hospital for treatment,” the said in a statement. Saturday (September 19). .

A total of 109 people have been tested, and 106 are still awaiting their results.

“Sanitation and disinfection efforts have been made at the Semporna hospital, and the cause of the infection is still under investigation,” he said.

On updates from other active groups, he said that the Sungai group recorded eight new cases, while only one addition was reported from the Benteng LD (Lahad Datu) group.
