Realme 7 Hands On: Oddly Competing for the Pro Position

[ad_1]

We already did the practices for the realme 7 Pro before, so now is the time to do the same with the base model. Which is where things get pretty weird for the two devices. Because despite the Pro designation in the above, this realme 7 seems to have some of the best features.

Starting with the display, we are looking at a similar Full HD + display. It also has a perforated camera cutout in the upper left corner, and the glass above the display is equally flat. There is nothing wrong here, except that the realme 7’s screen is slightly larger and measures 6.5 inches. It also has a higher refresh rate at 90Hz, but a slightly lower sample rate at 120Hz.

And this is a noticeable difference when you have both devices next to each other. The realme dock 7 feels more fluid when scrolling through the app drawer or in your favorite social media app. For what it’s worth, this phone runs a MediaTek Helio G95 chipset, but has the same * GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space as the Pro model.

And while we talk about the internals, it’s also worth noting that the realme 7 comes with a 5000 mAh battery. This makes it slightly larger than the Pro model’s battery, but it doesn’t charge as fast, with fast charging support up to 30W.

On the sides, a clear difference that separates the realme 7 from its Pro variant is that it adopts a metallic silver color here, rather than the color of its back. Beyond that, you have the volume rocker on the left side, and at the bottom is the USB-C charging port, the speaker grille, and the 3.5mm audio jack.

This is a subjective item, but in my opinion the realme 7 also has the superior fingerprint sensor. And it’s not about unlock speed, but where you are. And in this case, the phone combines the fingerprint sensor with the power button. There is also a slight indentation on the right side to make it easier to locate without looking at the phone.

On the back, you see the phone sporting the Mist White color that it’s supposed to be. Like the Pro model, the back is crossed around the edges for a more comfortable grip of the phone. The four-chamber setup is arranged differently as well, making the island longer but thinner. This is one of the best identifiers when you need to differentiate between realme 7 and the Pro variant.

The rear cameras on the realme 7 are also identical to the Pro model. This means that we are still looking at a 64MP main shooter and an 8MP wide-angle camera. They are accompanied by a monochrome portrait and a macro lens, both of which have an unspecified pixel count. But on the front, the base model replaces the 32MP shooter in the Pro variant with a 16MP camera.

All this makes choosing one of the two to buy a more complicated process than it should be. The realme 7 has some advantages over its Pro model, and it is quite a bit more than the usual difference between a standard variant and a Pro. And this is with the base model that still maintains the price advantage. Overall, the realme 7 seems like the best deal, unless its real-world performance lags far behind the Pro model.
