PETALING JAYA: The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) sealed the offices of Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Gombak Assemblyman Setia Muhammad Hilman Idham in Taman Berjaya, Gombak on Friday (September 18).

According to Daily rays, the move is believed to be related to the decision of the two former PKR leaders who recently joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

When contacted by the Malaysian daily, Hilman confirmed the incident but said he was not present because he was campaigning in Sabah.

He also criticized the state government for closing the service centers as it will not benefit the rakyat.

“The action of Selangor Mentri Besar and the state government to supposedly seal off our service centers and evict us from there will only be detrimental to the people of Gombak Setia,” he said.

“The office is a place where I meet people, local leaders and those who need help,” he told the Malaysian daily via WhatsApp.

“Although I am no longer a representative of Pakatan Harapan, Azmin and I will continue to provide our services and help the people of Gombak.

“If Mentri Besar and the state government want to punish me because I no longer support Pakatan, they should confront me instead of punishing the people and voters of Gombak Setia,” he said.

Meanwhile, in a separate Facebook post, Hilman said that he received many messages from Selangor officials who were sympathetic to him about the MPS action.

“I asked them to defend the civil servant statute and not to feel any political pressure from the state government.

“God willing, there will be a time when we will be together again to chart success in Selangor,” he said.

MPS, in a statement on Friday, said the eviction notice had been issued since July.

“MPS had previously visited the service centers and informed them about the eviction order. MPS also gave reminders about the eviction notice on September 7 and 9.

“MPS hopes that with the explanation there will be no confusion about the action taken,” said an MPS spokesman.

He added that the council has given three days from today (September 18) for the service center to vacate its facilities.

The service center is located in an MPS asset, which is a community room at Jalan Berjaya 6.
